Wednesday has arrived, which means another weekly addition of Hotsauce highlights! Each week, we ask our spirits guru Brendan for his expertise and his current booze preferences. So here is this week’s list of drinks that Brendan adores. Each has been reviewed in his own unedited words.

54780   Stetson Kentucky Bourbon

A whisky originally intended for the German market that honours John B Stetson, the man responsible for putting the USA firmly on the map as a place where you can find a mighty good hat. Great in cocktails or enjoy it straight.

14381    Old Grand-dad Bourbon

Believe it or not, during prohibition, this traditional old-style bourbon was ingeniously prescribed for its 'medicinal' purposes! It boasts a cult following - thanks, in part, to the very high rye content in the mash, which provides a spicy kick. Not for the faint-hearted!

58308    Mr Black Amaro

Mr Black Coffee Amaro is a bitter liqueur inspired by traditional Italian cocktails and Australian coffee culture. Made of two types of liqueur - coffee liqueur and bitter amaro. Pour over ice and enjoy after a hearty meal.

25752    Sharish Laurinius Oak Aged

Portuguese gin that is aged for 365 days before being bottled. It has soft, creamy lemon notes with basil and a hint of floral vanilla – making this an aged gin excellent in cocktails.

12792    Poetic License Old Tom Gin

A sweet gin made in Sunderland in north-east England. A traditional, sweeter style of gin that features hibiscus and rose petals as part of its botanical selection and is rested in oak before bottling. Fantastic in an Old Tom Collins.
