You may be aware that rare red weather warnings have today been issued as the dangerous Storm Éowyn heads towards the UK.

This includes a red warning for wind for Scotland's central belt from 10:00 until 17:00 on Friday.

It is anticipated that this could mean flying debris causing a danger to life, with gusts of up to 100mph in some areas.

First Minister John Swinney announced in the Scottish Parliament earlier that people should not travel in areas covered by the red warning and are asked to stay at home.

Whilst this level of warning is uncommon, the situation will be familiar to most of us given the impact of the so called "Beast from the East" in 2018.

Like then, Dunns continues to strive to achieve the high standards of service delivery that we always aim for. However, naturally the weather conditions also have repercussions for our operation, with problems across the network and we cannot put our staff at risk in the affected areas.

We ask that all customers please be aware and understanding of the situation - delays on delivery routes are expected and with the situation being declared life threatening, may be taken out of our hands in some areas.

As things stand, we are taking steps to move as much of Friday's delivery operation to Saturday as is possible. Therefore, where we can, any order that you would normally place on a Thursday for Friday delivery will be moved for delivery on Saturday.  Where this is not feasible, it we will be moved to next weeks schedule.

Please continue to communicate with our sales and telesales representatives who are already working to reach you.  If you are going to close your own premises or no longer require your order, we ask that you please give us a call on 01698 727 777.

Normal service will be resumed as soon as conditions allow and further communications will be made wherever possible.

Thank you for your co-operation and understanding.
